I usually find the surgery in general friendly and helpful The only issue is parking there.

Went to book a flu jab as phone was never answered and was told i was no longer eligible even though i have had asthma since 2000. I queried this and told criteria changed this year. I was not told this. I also have heart issues and epilepsy. I have waited and waited for an asthma review this year but trying to get an appointment at this med centre is ridiculous.

Hello there, I am sorry to hear that you have been having problems getting an appointment. This is unusual as we do have lots of options for you to come in and see our team of nurses who can help you. We also have a Pharmacist and a Specialist Practitioner (paramedic) who can also assist you in looking after your health as well. You may be interested to know that you can have direct access to our Asthma Nurse through your Systm Online account, so can send her a message regarding any queries you may have around managing your long term conditions. I wonder if you would be so kind as to contact me at emmybutcher@nhs.net and I will be more than happy to assist you to make sure that you get the best possible service and ease of access to our clinicians. We can even arrange for you to visit us here at the Surgery, where you can use our free patient wifi and our skilled IT team to assist you in setting up Systm Online on your smart phone or tablet. Using the Dr system could be difficult for older people. I found it OK but it did not allow the user to add any appropriate information. If some older people were asked to use this system to get an appointment they may give up and therefore not initiate an appointment.

Better communications with pharmacies are required. For the last 6 times I have been for a repeat prescription they have either issued the wrong medication, not sent the prescription across, or sent it to the wrong pharmacy to what was agreed or sent a text saying it will be signed off ready for collection and then I travel to pick it up to find it hasn’t been. Then then arranged for me to collect from a different chemist but don’t update the systems accordingly so that I then have another wasted journey. If I didn’t work or work such long hours and have to travel overseas this wouldn’t be be such a problem but when I arrange what little time I have to collect and the prescription is not sorted then this exacerbates the situation.

You may be keen to hear that we have a dedicated team to help with prescription problems and are working with local Pharmacies and the Local Pharmaceutical Committee to ensure that our processes are patient friendly and streamlined. It would be helpful to see if we can resolve these issues to improve your experience going forward. In particular you may be able to benefit from access to Systm Online so that you can control your nominated Pharmacy of choice options. In addition, you may also be interested to hear that we have an in-Practice Pharmacist, Zoe Pearce, who works with us three days a week who can carry out medication reviews and also review any on going medication issues you may be experiencing. Hi there, thanks for your review which is really helpful. We always love hearing from our patients as it helps us to benchmark how well we are achieving our patient care standards and to exploit any opportunities for improvement where possible. We agree, we would love to make our waiting times for routine appointments shorter. To help this we have employed a wide variety of clinicians to help our patients to be seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional as soon as possible. We have a wide variety of skilled clinical colleagues who work alongside our GPs to help improve patient care and access to appointments. For example we now have a Pharmacist, Zoe, who is in Surgery three days a week and able to see patients for medicine reviews and medicine related consultations. We also have two minor illness nurses, Hannah and Bev, who assist with the on the day triage and we have a Special Practitioner, Paul, who can carry out home visits for our elderly patients. We also employ locum doctors to help provide extra GP clinics as well. It is always worthwhile speaking to one of our helpful Receptionists if you are struggling to find an appointment to suit your needs as they will be able to assist you. It may be that one of our other healthcare professionals can help you or you may be able to find the solution through our online patient resources.
